After we got the lowdown from Lord & Berry on the make-up at the Kristian Aadnevik LFW show we HAD to stop Global Moroccanoil® Ambassador, Antonio Corral Calero, to tell us about the striking-but-totally-wearable ‘do that he was creating on the models. Called the ‘Wellington Wave’, after Aadnevik’s Duke of Wellington inspiration for his collection, Antonio used just three products for this eye-catching look:
Antonio told us that when he looked at Aadnevik’s design inspiration, the women of the period often had finger waves, with hair pulled back into a chignon. To make it more modern and totally wearable, he decided that the look must be easy to recreate at home. The effect is a side-parted broken wave that emphasises the shape of the face and then leads into unexpected straight ends. Utterly gorgeous! He told us how to recreate it:
STEP 1:
“Begin by separating the hair into three sections – smooth over to start with if the hair you are working with is not straight or wavy. Spritz Moroccanoil Heat Styling Protection into the roots, one layer at a time, and blow dry to set. Part the hair on the left hand side; a deep parting, reaching to the crown.”
STEP 2:
“Use a medium curling iron, starting two inches from the root, to set three inches of the hair, leaving the rest of the hair to hang naturally. Work with small sections of hair and curl towards the face on the left side and away from the face on the right.”
STEP 3:
“Finally, take one part Moroccanoil Treatment with one part Glimmer Shine and rub together in yours hands. Tip the head forward so the hair is not touching anything and pat the product three times on each side. This method of compressing the product into the cuticles gives extra shine and flexibility. Tip the head back and pat again three times and then, using whatever product is remaining in your hands, caress from the roots to the top of the waves to smooth. The final look should fall slightly across the face and feels feminine and mysterious.”
